EZVIZ (appli & cloud)

Tested on our bench

Vendor
EZVIZ (Hikvision)
License
Gratuit avec le matériel EZVIZ ; stockage cloud CloudPlay sur abonnement
Platforms
app mobile iOS/Android, EZVIZ Studio (Windows), portail web

The camera maker's own app and cloud (EZVIZ app, EZVIZ Studio, CloudPlay). The easiest option out of the box, but cloud- and account-centric. EZVIZ is a Hikvision-affiliated brand. Not benchmarked as a VMS on our bench.

Strengths

  • Unusually for a cloud camera brand, many EZVIZ cameras expose local RTSP/ONVIF and microSD/NVR recording with a user-set encryption password — a genuine opt-in path to self-host.
  • Polished clients across mobile, Windows (EZVIZ Studio) and web.

Limitations

  • Cloud- and account-mandatory: setup, remote access and AI all route through EZVIZ's cloud; only EZVIZ / Hik-Connect devices are supported.
  • Hikvision-affiliated (partly Chinese-state-linked) with a documented CVE history — including a 2022 flaw that let attackers recover the very key protecting 'encrypted' footage (CVE-2022-2472).
  • Facial recognition is limited to a few doorbell/lock products, not the ecosystem; cameras generally do person detection only.

Criteria

Self-hosted (runs on your hardware)
Works without a mandatory vendor account
Works with any ONVIF/RTSP camera (no hardware lock-in)
Built-in facial recognition
Encrypts stored footage at rest
Remote access without a vendor cloud
Web + desktop + mobile apps
