Enterprise open-platform VMS with massive device support and a large integration ecosystem (MIP SDK / Marketplace), scaling from small sites to federated multi-site deployments. Version 2026 R1. Not yet benchmarked on our test bench.

Strengths

Massive open-platform device support (16,000+ devices, ONVIF Profiles S/T/G/M, universal RTSP driver) — no hardware lock-in.
Media-database encryption at rest plus tamper-evident digital signing (Expert/Corporate editions).
Scales to large federated, multi-site enterprise deployments via the MIP SDK / Marketplace.

Limitations

Windows-server-centric; no native Linux server or desktop client.
No built-in facial recognition (third-party plugins via MIP SDK); no free tier since 2025 R2, reseller-quote pricing.
License activation requires a My Milestone account; encryption/signing are gated to the pricier Expert/Corporate editions.
