SMB-to-enterprise VMS with the broadest OS support of the enterprise tier (Windows/Linux/macOS), sold as software or NVR appliances. Not yet benchmarked on our test bench.

Strengths

  • Genuinely cross-platform servers (Windows, Linux AND macOS) — unusual at this tier.
  • Broad ONVIF support (incl. 2-way audio); Cloud Drive access is always TLS-encrypted, and the database can be encrypted.

Limitations

  • No native facial recognition — sold as a separate 'Tyco AI Facial Matching' per-channel add-on.
  • At-rest encryption of local recordings is configurable, not universal by default.

Criteria

Open source (auditable code)
Self-hosted (runs on your hardware)
Works without a mandatory vendor account
Works with any ONVIF/RTSP camera (no hardware lock-in)
Built-in facial recognition
Encrypts stored footage at rest
Remote access without a vendor cloud
Web + desktop + mobile apps
