Hanwha Vision's VMS, built on the Network Optix Nx platform, designed for large multi-site deployments with AES-256 encrypted archives. Not yet benchmarked on our test bench.

Strengths

  • Archives encrypted on disk with AES-256 (OpenSSL EVP, counter mode) — confirmed, not just marketing.
  • Cross-platform servers (Windows/Linux/macOS), a genuine free starter edition, and no annual maintenance fee.

Limitations

  • No native facial recognition — only via CyberLink FaceMe integration.
  • WAVE Sync (remote access relay) doesn't force TLS by default — encrypting the connection is left to the client/server.

Criteria

Self-hosted (runs on your hardware)
Works without a mandatory vendor account
Works with any ONVIF/RTSP camera (no hardware lock-in)
Built-in facial recognition
Encrypts stored footage at rest
