Very popular US budget brand. Official local RTSP finally shipped for the Cam v3/Pan v3 line in February 2026, but the newer V4 line and the oldest v1/v2/Pan v1 models still don't have it (V4 in development with no committed date; older beta pulled). Covered as inconsistently open at best. Not benchmarked.
Strengths
- Local microSD recording works without a subscription; very low hardware cost.
- Cam v3 and Pan v3 gained official, vendor-supported local RTSP in a February 2026 firmware update (app 3.9+) — that stream needs no cloud account or bridge.
Limitations
- RTSP coverage is inconsistent across the lineup: only Cam v3/Pan v3 have official support; the current V4 line still has none (in development since January 2026, no committed date, per Wyze's own forum); the oldest v1/v2/Pan v1 beta firmware was pulled and its future is 'being assessed' by Wyze.
- Where RTSP isn't officially supported, the community bridge (docker-wyze-bridge) still needs your cloud account + API key and can't run offline.
- Mandatory account; facial recognition is cloud (Cam Plus) only.
- 2024 breach exposed ~13,000 users' camera thumbnails to strangers — not dependable for a local-first VMS.
