- Noviscan integration
- Hard
A major global electronics brand whose mainline Mi Home cameras have no official local video path — only fragile, model-locked community firmware hacks on older hardware. Not benchmarked on our bench.
Strengths
- MicroSD local recording works without a paid subscription.
- A community project (Dafang Hacks) provides genuine local RTSP on specific older Ingenic-chip models, without the cloud — but it is unofficial and model-locked.
Limitations
- No official local RTSP/ONVIF on current models; the Mi Home account and cloud P2P relay are mandatory for setup and viewing.
- Facial recognition requires the paid 'Xiaomi Home Secure' cloud tier.
- A Jan 2020 caching bug leaked still images from Mi Home cameras into other users' Google Nest Hubs; Google suspended the integration until fixed.
- Don't confuse with Aqara (already covered separately) — a Xiaomi-ecosystem partner brand whose cameras DO have native local RTSP/ONVIF.
